Stake’s Licence

Stake is operated by Medium Rare N.V. under licence OGL/2024/1451/0918 issued by the Curaçao Gaming Authority. The licence requires fair games, protection of player funds, KYC and anti-money laundering checks. It is a foreign licence: it regulates how Stake operates, but it does not make online gambling legal in any particular country.

Online Gaming Act 2025

In August 2025, India adopted the Promotion and Regulation of Online Gaming Act. The law prohibits offering and advertising online money games across the country, and its rules apply from 1 May 2026. Several companies have challenged the law in the Supreme Court of India, and the case is still pending. Until the court decides, the ban remains in force.

State Laws

Gambling is also regulated by the states. Some states, such as Telangana, Andhra Pradesh and Tamil Nadu, have their own bans on online games for money. Rules can change quickly, so check the current law of your state before you play.
